화면에 나타나는 이미지를 디지털 데이터로 치환해 그 근원을 역추적하는 정윤아의 작업은
호메로스의 서사시에 등장하는 오디 세우스의 여정을 닮았다.
달릴 수 없는 그의 트로이의 목마(Trojan Horse)처럼, 정윤아의 〈세상 에서 가장 큰 새〉(2024)는 날지 못한다.
실재하지 않는 이 가상의 새는 다수의 우연적 이미지들 의 결괏값이 인쇄된 종이 반죽과 마끈, 철사로 얽혀 있다.
...
익명의 개체들이 모인 공동의 뇌를 거친 태초의 형상은 그저 부유하는 이미지로만 남지 않는다.
오디세우스가 이타카로 돌아가는 길에 만난 수많은 위험 또는 우연처럼
정윤아가 종이 위에 선과 면으로 휘갈긴 출처를 알 수 없는 이미지들은 검색 과정을 통해
서로 다른 서사를 가진 개별적인 사건으로 명명된다.
이는 원본의 물리적 형태만을 취한 왜곡된 서사에 가깝지만,
기존의 사고와 감각을 일탈하며 화면 속 상황에 개연성을 부여한다.

디지털 이미지를 재료로 개인의 기억 속 이미지를 역추적하는 과정을 회화, 설치를 통해 보여줍니다. 온라인 상에서 떠도는 많은 이미지들을 실체 없이 부유하는 존재들이라 보고, 실제로 체험한 개인적 경험의 기호들과 실체 없는 이미지들 사이의 연결고리를 캔버스 위에서 마련하려 합니다. 드로잉을 활용한 거친 표현 행위는 디지털 정보와 연결됩니다. 추상적인 드로잉과 연관된 이미지들을 검색해 찾아내어 이를 캔버스 안에 직접적으로 등장하게 하는 방식은 그리고자 하는 대상이 무엇인지 거꾸로 찾아가는 재탐색의 과정으로 볼 수 있습니다.

Yuna Jung explores the process of retracing personal memories through painting and installation, using digital images as material. Viewing the many images floating online as intangible entities, she aims to establish a connection on canvas between these elusive beings and the symbols of personal experiences she has actually encountered. The rough expressive act, utilizing drawing, is intertwined with digital information. The method of searching for and discovering images associated with abstract drawings, and then directly incorporating them onto the canvas, can be seen as a process of re-exploration, retracing what the intended subject is in reverse.
